I don't think IH tried to match engine #'s and tractor serial #'s on the 140's. Do you need to know the year of the tractor? Is the serial number plate missing? It should be on the clutch housing. I can't get to my 240 till Tuesday, but I'll check the serial # of the engine (it also has a C-123), mabey it will help you, since I know mine is a 1960.
