I am looking at a pair of WD-9 tractors for sale or trade and have a couple of questions. The first one (havent seen the second one yet) has serial number WDCB55615V12B and as near as I can tell its a 1951 model. How ever, I cant find any info where the numbers show a "V" in the serial number system . Im almost positive that it was a "V", but could have been an "X". Was there ever a V in the numbering system? This tractor has a hand clutch which I thought was a bit odd. I dont think it is a rice version because it doesnt have the full rear fenders. The rear tires are odd as well as any info that Iv seen showed them as having 16-36 inch rear tires. This one has a pair of 23.1-26 rear tires. Can any one shed some light on this tractor as to what it was designed/used for? As in, why the fat rear tires and hand clutch. The guy says that the other tractor also has the hand clutch. He also says that that I should be able to build one good tractor from the pair. Any thoughts on this subject? Thanks for your time. Steve T
