Will, I have just a couple of thoughts that may be of some assistance to you. When you mentioned machining the adjusting screw on the rocker arm, I would recommend that if you were to try this I would grind down the end of the valve stem. The other problem that I encountered when I rebuilt my F-20 which had been sitting for a long time, was that the holes in the top of the lifters where the pushrods sit had acquired a lot of rust and grime on three lifters that caused the same type of problems that you are describing. I did not notice this until after I had put washers under the rocker arm pedestals and ran it for a while, those three kept getting loose on me. Cleaned up the lifters and was able to reinstall without washers. Apologize for such a long post, good luck, Mike Schwartz(WA)
