There was no Nebraska test of the Super MTA, but the ratings had to be about the same as the Super M's--around 42 on the drawbar and 47.5 on the belt for the gas models. As I interpet it the rated rpms as listed on the serial number/ID tag were max idle rpm was 1595 for the Super M and 1600 for the Super MTA. The 1450 rpm was the maximum governed rpm for the Super MTA, the Super M, the 400's and 450's I believe,stock ratings. Now, I could be wrong, but I think the 400's had some minor mods(higher compression ratio for one) that gave them a "smidge" more snort than a Super MTA, up to over 50 horses on the belt. No matter, I always felt that Super MTA was a different tractor than a Super M and I've run 'em both plenty--and liked 'em both plenty too!! They were tractors with genuine GUTS to lug ya through the tough spots. I liked the TA to slow ya down at the headlands for the turns, doing PTO work and backing up stuff, never had to use it as a shift down too much, them babies had lugging power.
