Hy-Tran or other hydraulic-type fluid will work fine. SAE 30 non-detergent motor oil will work even better, as it will be a little thicker when the unit warms up. Hy-tran is an improvement in terms of performance characteristics, but if the pump is worn at all, you will not develop full pressure with it when the fluid gets hot. If you can't lift the loads you want to move with Hy-tran, drain it and go back to SAE 30.
