JD we used to take the batteries out of rigs that sat over the winter and kept them in the shop, charging occaissionally. It was a pain but seemed to help them last longer. On the combines they keep trickle chargers plugged in through the winter and that helps a lot. What is hay worth in your area. Seems like you said your dad was baling grass hay or what we used to call "wild hay", (not to be confused with "wild oats"!). Hayguy (b-in-law) has been getting around $60 for second cutting alfalfa no rain. He had a slug of Japanese Hay millet that went to Wyo. for $45/ton. Out here alfalfa/grass mix is routinely advertised in the paper for $115-120/ton!
