Finally, one week ago, I got to taking the 45 A apart and had the head rebuilt. The piston rings were so flexable, it was like rubber (litterialy). So I got the rings in thursday and got em in at 11:00 pm. I finally got the head and engine gasket set on friday and it cost 300.00 for the 3 items. The head had 4 bad valves, and all the springs needed to be replaced. The gasket set is really nice; it even comes with crankshaft seals! I got it together friday night and what do you know I just had to have more of a challenge, so I screwed up the timing (no, not on purpose). The timing got so bad the first time it backfired and blew the muffler off. So I clamped it on. THE SECOND time it backfired even worse and the whole top half of the muffler flew up and hit the barn ceiling. HEADS UP!! LOL. I called it a night. The next morning I turned the mag half way and it started right up-and believe me-theres something sweet in the sound of a Farmall engine you've put time into!! I also put a nice Super A front axle on it for better steering, the bigger spindles for strength and a tow bar. And I went out and bought a brand new (STRONGER!) muffler and spark plugs for it and it sounds real good now! If this weather gets warm in the spring the 46 BN, 41 A, and this A are getting cleaned up and are getting paint and decals. Well, thats what I've been doing! ThatOtherGuy
