your method sounds good but I personally like the PB Blaster penetrating oil instead of the marvel mystery oil. I get mine at Autozone. I think it is one of the best penetrating oils. I have found better but at a cost of $30 per can I wouldn't buy it. PB Blaster is almost as good! and about $4 per can.
My Father in law swears by Marvel Mystery oil as it can fix just about anything! Or so He says. He just adds it to his gas and oil and never has to do a tune up! I asked him if it would fix his arthritis also.
