I have a Farmall C and Super A. I put a Saginaw 3 point hitch on the C, changed the fluid and refilled to the bottom of the filler hole--with the touch control levers to the rear as instructed. The C has a vent in the filler plug and fluid comes out the vent. I just purchased the tractor and have not used it, but I don't think I lost fluid before I installed the hitch --just cycled it a few times to see if it worked. My Super A does not have the vent. I thought both systems were closed systems. Is the C system supposed to be vented or not? Fluid level is now well below the filler neck and it is still pushed out the vent. It leaks some from the control valves below the rockshaft in front of the unit. I plan to disassemble it and replace the seals. I have no idea if this will prevent fluid loss out the vent. If I use a plug with no vent, will this damage the unit or cause my new seals to leak? I have a parts book for the Super A but not the C and am not sure of the differences, if any. Thanks in advance for your help.
