I researched this fairly thoroughly because a friend has a Super H with this problem. My conclusion was either worn bearings(especially the pilot bearing) or a worn gear. He had work done on the shifter rails and fork a couple of years ago which helped but did not cure the problem. He is going to put it in the shop soon to do major work to fix it. I think you will end up pulling the top plate, and doing major tranny work before you get it fixed.
