When I was a kid growing up we had a'47 M with a Schartz hand clutch. My uncle, who raised me, raised a lot of cattle and he had it installed to give him the equivalence of live pto to run his feed wagon. He also had a Schartz wide front end on this tractor. It was the first tractor that I ever drove. At five I was too small to reach the brakes and foot clutch at same time but could operate the hand clutch while standing on one foot and using other foot on brakes. I spent hours on end driving around one of the feedlots and baking the feed trailer in between the fence and concrete horse trough. Later on after he pased away I bought a M with the M&W 9 spd. The pin that prevented using 5th in overdrive had been removed in effect making it a 10 spd. It would really fly down the road. Looking back, I realize how dangereous it was as it had a loose front end.
