Tractor and corn picker

I know nearly all of you guys have corn picked or still have been all your lives. Currently, my family farm operation has a TR70 New Holland combine. But that is besides the point. We used to have a IH 234 Mounted picker (several, actually) and have run multiple diffent tractors on them. We have run M, SM, 450, 560, 706, and 826 on those pickers, so the field of opportunities was well tested. However, what do any of you guys think is the best tractor you have ever run under a 234? I don't really mind hearing what you have run under it, because I know there are so many that would work, but what worked the best, for fuel efficiency, power, speed, or simply overall. Please voice your opinion, because I know there are many of you out there. Thank you, and I look forward to sharing stories.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
