Dick, Just took the brakes apart on my 300. The outer plate after you have the brake housing and disks off is called the inner brake plate and hold the outer pinion shaft bearing. The inner plate is the pinion shaft inner bearing cage and is bolted to transmission case with 6 cap screws. The inner brake plate has an o ring for a seal and you have to break that loose to remove the plate. Get the rust off of the pinion shaft and use a thin chisel or pry bar in the two indents between the 2 plates. As soon as you have the o ring free of the bearing cage the plate will slide right off the shaft.
