It must have been about 1990 when CaseIH came out with the mechanical diode TA. It was a kickdown of a device used on helicopters for rotor blade engagement, I believe. It had a big warranty if installed by the dealer. It was supposed to be twice as strong as the original sprag assembly, but I guess it didn't live up to expectations. The aftermarket has come up with some heavy duty sprags that are giving really good service.
