you can spray some penetrating oil on the studs and cross your fingers I havent had any break on me yet there are also springs and maybe cotter pins threw the nut. The sterring comes out threw the front take the cap off in the front there will be a bearing behind it when you loosen the bolt up in the middle of the shaft by the oil and temp gauges turn the sterring one way are the other and the sterring worm will slide out the front be sure to take the woodruf key out of the end of the shaft it wont slide threw the seal in front of the radiator you might want to replace that seal while your at it.
