Dan, No you dont need live hyd to have down presure. I have and H and I just changed mine to have down presure. You need to buy a spool valve. I got mine at tsc. I ran min from one of the supply nipples to the in side of the spool valve and then you run the out from the spool valve back for a return. I put a T in the drain for the belly pump and plumbed it to there. Then you run hose a back to the back of the tractor and T it off to the top of cylinder. Do the same to to outlet b off of spool valve. But run it to the bottom of the cylinder. When you use it you have to keep the belly pump rod locked in the pulled out pos.
