The H carb will not fit the 300 manifold without modifying the manifold. The problem is the stud spacing and size of the carb is completely different.

The 300 Carb is more close to the M carb than the H. If you are working on H then you would make life easier on yourself if you just got an H manifold or an aftermarket replacement.
