If it has an alternator with one wire, it takes a little electricity all the time. You need to unhook the battery when not in use. If it went plumb dead overnight, something more severe is wrong. Make sure their are no grounded wires before you tear the alternator off. If it has an alternator, and it is charging when running, then it is more than likely a short somewhere in the system wiring.
