I have worked at IH/CNH since 1960, we have never understood it either, believe simply that temperature changes causes condensation we cannot fix, one of the reasons that Hytran was to be changed at least yearly in any machine, if you like all operators do exactly as the operators manual for the tractor tells you. Genuine Hytran is formulated to hold a limited amount of water in suspension, however when its overloaded it discolors to milky look. If you dont change it at this point and the machine is in cold climate the moisture freezes into ice, and almost all hyd systems intake is mounted low to keep pump oil supply/suction immersed in Hytran, problem is water/ice is heavier than oil and will be in the bottom of system, starving the suction supply.
