Have you had a few problems with the 2+2s or know of someone who has? I am laughing but find it difficult to express it here. I admit, some of the 30 series 2+2s were true P's-O-S, but I can't complain about what we've fixed on ours. We replaced an engine (I REFUSE TO HEAR CRAP ABOUT THE DT466!!! THAT IS THE BEST ENGINE EVER DESIGNED, AND THE REASON IT IS STILL USED 25 YEARS LATER) because it had a small hole in the cylinder letting water into the oil, and the transmission in the other because somebody got it stuck in reverse and low at the same time and put it at full throttle and popped the clutch. There was a little metal piece broke in the cab which we fixed later, which was a guide for the shifting lever. If you weren't watching the gears, it would allow you to slide into low from reverse without going into neutral. Hey, I enjoy hearing crap, and I know some of these tractors have a bad reputation, so go out and buy a 6788 and see if you have any problems. Most of the glitches of the 30's were worked out then, and if you have a chance get a 72 or 74. Every one of the 30 produced except 2 have ran 5000 hours or more without repair. All are still in active use. Sure, the "Anteater" has inhaled its share of dirt during its duration, but if I ever wanted to go to work on the anthills called fields, that is what I would use. Have a nice week, Preston, and make sure to e-mail or reply back!!!

Today's Featured Article - The Fordson F Ignition System - by Anthony West. A fellow restorer contacted me earlier this year asking for some help and advice on a model F that he was restoring. He had over a period of months spent a fair amount of his hard earned cash on replacement parts for the old "trembler" ignition. Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce ... [Read Article]
