Then you don.t have something rite, dump valve ,trans brake clutch drag, IH diode T/A on it's way south , when things are the way they are suppose to be the it will shift so smoothe , The only thing that you should feel is the shifter detent. The 56-66 shifter is nice but to start changing thing from a salavge yard you just might get some thing more wore out then ya got now . Take a few min and pull the cowel off and start looking for the problem also pull the kick plate off and chek for ANY ware and try to figure out what it will take to fix . ANd stop and think of when your problems started , Like just after you had a DIODE T/A installed or what or has this been comming on over a period of time all these things help determin on the cure .
