Are you saying that in one engin cycle, the #1 cylinder will come up twice. Once with the exaust valve open (no pressure out spark plug hole) and a second with the exaust valve close (now pressure will come out spark plug hole)? So when the piston comes up with the exaust valve closed (get pressure out hole) this is the true top dead center and I sould set the time here.

From this point I will set the rotor to the #1 wire. Also I can get a reference of where the mark is on my crankshaft pulley so I can put my timing light on it to approximate setting the advance.

What engin RPM does the motor need to run at for setting this? Also what advance is require at this RPM (it is going to be ruff since I lack the advance guide).
