I-H planters-- Trying to pick one

Hello to all on the Red Board-------

From my name you can probably tell that I usually hang out in more Green settings. But I have a question for you all. I am in the market for a small (2 or 4 row) drill/planter. As a kid, I remember my Dad having an I-H #40 (I think) planter/ drill. I really worked well. I am looking for something like that to buy now. I located a model 449 planter to be sold at an auction sale this coming Saturday. Has anybody had any experience with this planter? Is it, as a rule, a worthy machine? Any common problems? What should I look for as far as common wear points? How old is this model in relation to the model 40? Is it considered as desirable as a model 40? On the whole, what is parts availability like for the 449?
