Overrunning clutch permits the tractor PTO to drive an implement (typically a bush hog), but prevents momentum from a coasting implement from "driving" the tractor when the clutch is depressed. A tractor with ground (non-live) PTO and working a high-momentum implement without an OR clutch is a terrifying combination, should you need to stop in a hurry... OR clutch fits between the PTO stub shaft on the tractor and the driven implement. For $75 or so, it's a worthwhile investment.
