The 656 was built as: International 656, International 656 High Clear, Farmall 656, and Farmall 656 High Clear. All were available with gear transmission with or without TA or with Hydrostatic Drive in gasoline, LPG, or diesel models. What you saw were a Farmall 656 and a International 656 High Clear. The International is a utility or standaard type tractor. The operator straddles the transmission, it has a short wheelbase front axle, and disc type rear wheels ususlly 28". The International 656 High Clear is a row crop version of the utility tractor. The operator straddles the transmission and it has the short wheelbase front axle, but has the adjustable Farmall type rear axles and 38' cast rear wheels. The Farmall 656 is a higher profile row crop type and was available either with a single front wheel, dual tricycle front wheels, or wide front axle. The operator sits high on a flat platform and it has 38" cast rear wheels. The Farmall 656 High Clear is a true High Clear with the same features as the regular Farmall plus a taller front axle and drop housings on the rear axles. Harold H
