You said it's grey? but is gone under load? That means you need to adjust the injection pump just slightly to get rid of this. That is compressed air that didn't get fuel to burn, and you are seeing the condnsation in the decompressing air. I know that at my friend's IH dealership they would set the tractors up with just a hint of white smoke at an Idle so that when the motor was working, with the governor kicked in, there wouldn't be any black smoke and you would be getting the rated fuel economy. Gee, I'm only 14, I guess I pay Attention! I hope this helps. Look in your owner's manual, find the "smoke screw", in the manual it might be called a fuel mixture screw, or it could be the injector pressure adjustment screw, (I don't have a diesel tractor, so I'm not sure which it is, although I have the I and T service manual for the Letter series tractors to work on my C, and there is a section on diesels I have read)and read on which way to turn the screw to allow more fuel in at the cylinder. This should fix your white/grey smoke. Remember, though, this smoke won't hurt the engine. It's a similiar effect to that of when you changeover an IH gas/Diesel tractor (ie. MD, Wd-9,ect.) and get the clouds of whithe/grey smoke. Hope this Helps!

Well it sure didn't take me long to figure out what it was because I alrea
