I couldn't agree more! Doing the stuff you describe helps offset constant stress and frustration of my (office) job, and brings some balance back into into my life. It's definitely an "investment" in my future. It should be noted in the next generation, at least my 20-something kids are keenly interested in the old tractors. Reasons: Oldest daughter because she enjoys parades and competing in antique pulls. My son because his first "tractoring" experience at age 6 or 7 was aboard my '53 Super M. And all my kids value the SM on account of it's family connection: It was purchased new by their grandfather and served faithfully for 35+ years - through THEIR childhood - on the family farm. Hard to put a "fair market value" on that...
