The steering wheel shaft and the worm gear is all one piece, so the only way you can replace the steering shaft seal if from the steering wheel end. YOu have to remove the steering wheel to do it. Then, as the others said, you can take the big plug out of the front of the steering box, hold the front wheels, and the worm gear/steering shaft will screw right out. When it's out, you can then easily pop out the old seal and press in a new one. While you have the shaft out, check the ball bearing on the end for wear. If it has any play at all, replace it. (Costs less than $10 for a new bearing). All you have to do to replace it is remove the cotter pin from the castle nut, unscrew the nut and slide the old bearing off and the new one on. Getting rid of play in that bearing will help tighten up your steering system. Make sure all the rough spots are off the steering wheel shaft before you slide it back in to avoid damage to the new seal.
