I was in the same spot not long ago, John, with an opportunity to buy back my great-grandfather's BN. That left axle *was* as great perch, wasn't it? Problem was, the uncle that tracked it down for me (who is usually a pretty good horse trader) slipped and let the guy that had it know why I was interested. The price was too high and he wouldn't budge, but I paid it. My plans for it are the same as you have for yours and the motives for going to the expense prety much the same, too. The wrenching will be a joy and not factored in as a cost. The price range the other fellows have suggested is probably about right. As for dickering with your brother, sure there's the fraternal discount factor, but if your brother uses the tractor on the farm, he might be looking for enough of a price, not to replace it but to make it worth his while to part with it. Given your motives, and assuming the wallet is deep enough, and if it was me buying, I wouldn't regret having paid a premium above its real value to get it. My $.02 (but you'll probably have to part with more than that!) Good luck. Scotty
