I just finished converting my SMTA over to 12v. Previous owner had put in 12v battery but left everything else 6v. I printed off a copy of Bob's wiring diagram and kept it on top off my tool box as I worked. Follow it and you won't have a problem. I had debated doing this job for several months but was unsure of what I needed and how to go about it until I came across Bob M's diagram on this discussion board. The tractor starts great and seens to run smoother. By the way, I went with the 12v coil. boog
