Jim, There are several ways to handle the valving as have been listed below. TSC or Northern Hydraulics will have a splitter valve that is rated for the pressure and will let you switch by pushing a knob in or pulling it out, this is less cumbersom than using gate valves. One thing to watch out for is the reservoir capacity of the hydraulic system. Depending on the capacity of the combined cylinders you may lack enough fluid to raise the front and rear attachments (if you should need to) or if you should need to lower the front and rear attachments you may over flow the system. If you are going to leave the loader on you may want to use a single cylinder 3-pt hitch with the smallest bore cylinder that will meet your needs. People have quoted different capacities for the reservoir, most agree on 6 quarts. The earliest Hs had a 500 psi system the later models had 800 psi systems. Your lift pressure will determine what size cylinder to use for your 3-pt hitch. You can easily test this by placing a gauge inline with you loader and raising it until the cylinders have reached the end of their stroke.
