Ron,
I used Federal/mogul engine assembly lube that I got from Merle's it is a super slick synthetic lube that pretty much stays put where you put it. You should use something like this on your new cam for the breakin. the cost is about $5 for a very small bottle but it is more than enough for a entire engine.
