I guess you are aware the system on E bay is that you can bid whatever you want, but the bid only goes up as high as whatever the previous high bidder put in. That is if the current bid listed is $100, that bidder may have bid $150, but the previous high bidder was $98. If the bid increment is $2, then the current bid is shown as $100 even though the new bid is $150. The high bidder does not change until someone else bids over $150. The bid just goes up to the next increment above what someone bid that is less than $150. You have to bid over $150 to become the high bidder. So what you do is put in what you are willing to pay and see what happens. I've bought a couple of manuals on E bay and have had good luck with it. I've also bid on some other items, but they have gone way above what I wanted to pay. I've also seen items you can buy at the store for $50 go for $75 or more! I've seen that happen at auctions where I was present too. It's the typical way at auctions.
