Muffler --> on recently restored super a's, it appears that the muffler from the hood up, starts with a Straight pipe, then goes thick (muffler) and then goes thin to a straight pipe at the top? We have a Super A at the cottage that sees about 50hrs of grass cutting and joyriding a year. The pipe starts from the hood up as; pipe, muffler, and then a diagonal oval shaped hole right at the top of the muffler. Why is this? Engine Cooling --> How do you know what the engine temperature is on the tractor while running? It doesn't run for long periods of time, but the reason I ask is because the bottom 3 segments of the rad are starting to deteriorate. Is there a way? Guages --> Right underneath and to the left of the throttle is a small red box with a guage on it showing H and C, with a needle and some mid-point marks. There is an electricity "lightning bolt" right in the middle. Whats this? It doesnt work, but I THINK thatwhen i turned the dial below it to the right notch, the front lights went on. Oil pressure guage doesn't move, it stays standing up straight, I dont thinks its worked in years, the glass part of it is brown in the bottom part. How would I fix these? Thanks for any help!

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
