Tony, I run an MD and asked the same question here about a year ago. It seems the correct way to shut down is:-----
1) let her run slowly for five minutes to cool down.
2)switch back to gas.
3)stop engine.
4)put engine back in diesel mode (to stop starting valves from warping)
This has worked well for me. Good luck with a great tractor.
