Does a 240 U have a "woodruff" key like your 140? If so, where is it? Part of the steering shaft to worm gear shaft? Parts books show 240 worm gear fits on a spline shaft. I have the same looseness you described on the 140. Any help would be appreciated by anyone reading this.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
