I learned to drive tractors at five and pickups by the time I was seven (manaual transmissions). I had 10 years of driving experieince before I got my license and it made me a better driver. Nothing teaches like experience behind the wheel of an old tractor pulling discs, plows, cotton trailers or spray rigs. I've started letting my soon-to-be-adopted daughter steer the tractor as we drive around our place. She's six. Getting them used to controlling a vehicle -- be it tractor or car -- at a young age will make them safer when they're legally able to drive a car on the road. We should start driver's training before our kids are 15!
