Common question. Most of the old girls we deal with never had a lot of oil pressure to begin with, and between engine wear and inaccurate guages, lots of folks have run them for years with 5 pounds indicated.

On the other hand, I rebuilt mine with all new bearings but used the old pump with a new gauge, and it indicates 20 at idle and 45 wound up.

If the needle moves, and it don't make funny noises, run it...
