Actually, the TA is just there in case we need to slow down, ya know for a bump or something like that. Our IH tractors actually have low end lugging ability unlike the JD's that lose 5 rpms and die. Personally, on our farm, we shift up and throttle down to save fuel. BTW we pull 28 feet of drills with our 1086 1st gear HIGH range and about 1800 RPMs (oh yeah, TA in direct drive also). Steven
