Never worked on a C, does the book say timing marks are on the FLY wheel? All I've ever seen are marks on the pulley on the front of the crankshaft.The marks can be felt with your thumb nail or maybe a wire brush to remove the built up grease/dirt/rust and then you will need to highlight with chalk/spay paint/welders pen as others have suggested. Really sounds like a timing problem to me, when my Farmalls are overchoked they all pour gas out of the carb. Try and rotate all plug wires one hole clock wise!
