BB, about a month ago I took apart a Farmall A that I thought had a bad release bearing. When I got it apart I found that the fingers on the pressure plate were out of adjustment and the plate couldn't release the disc completely. You could not shift that tractor without grinding no matter how long you held the clutch in. I don't know if the pressure plate fingers on your tractor are adjustable or not, just an idea to look at.
