Hugh's procedure is correct, but if you still have problems, like I did, you may have to drill out the pin hole oversize, by pin hole, I mean the hole in the top of the transmission and shifter where the pin goes through to hold the shifter in the trans., if this is sloppy it will also cause a 2 gear lockup.
