Remove the muffler. Remove the air intake cap. The air intake cap is just a friction fit on the stack. Give it a couple hard raps upward and it will come off. Remove the crankcase oil breather if necessary. Pull down on the J shaped hood latches and turn 1/4 turn to release the latch (4 latches). Lift off the hood.
