As far as year model, you can check your casting dates. They use a code that determines year and maybe even month(I'm not sure about month) cast. Also, I think there is a spot below #1 spark plug on the block where the serial number is, as long as the engine is original. I think all H's had the same grill. The 39's had some different parts, maybe one of our "H-perts" can give you more help than I can. Have fun with it, Fireman
