Richard C: First of all, can we assume it's for sale? Has the owner declared that he's ready to be a seller? By setting a selling price? Otherwise, it's academic. Second, then, are any of the big ticket parts obviously in need of replacement? Good to go? If he's asking more than $400 for a stuck tractor, more than $1200 for not-stuck-but-not-running, more than $1600 for a Super C that you can drive onto your trailer,... you and he will have some serious dickering to do.
