Before I would buy another block I would take engine apart, take hammer and block of wood and drive sleeves out. This will allow you into the water jacket were I would drill holes at each end of crack and thread plugs in holes with sealent do this along the crack. Then grind off plugs and machine to surface. Put a good sealent on the head gasket. The manifold is threaded for the pipe you welded when they burn out you have to take a chisel cut pieces out of thread. Hope this helps.
