When you say grayish, it's not "milky" is it? That would indicate water getting into it. If it is gray, smell it. If you smell gas, you probably need a carb rebuild or at least an adjustment. If it is getting gas into the oil, I wouldn't reccommend running it much as it may spin a bearing, because the gas dilutes the oil to where it is thin and it looses some of it's lubricating properties.
