Drive through some industrial areas, looking for equipment companies or trucking companies. Many of them will have A-frame hoists sitting way back at the back of their lot. Ask if you can borrow the lift, or rent it for a keg-o-brew. If they say "No," ask them how long its been sitting there. An A-frame hoist would be a very safe way to go. Most of the time, they will already have the chain fall and trolley riding on the beam.
