I check mine with the hitch down. If you have two way cylinders on your loader it will not matter if the arms are up or down, the same amount of fluid is in the cylinders at all times. Same goes for the bucket tilt if so equipped. The hitch lift cylinder only holds maybe 1 quart of fluid.
