I have done something that seems to work, but some might find unconventional: I simply replaced the 6 volt regulator with a 12 volt, new 12 volt bulbs and a 12 volt battery. You have to polarize the voltage regulator for - ground. The instructions come with the regulator. The generator with the 12 volt hook up seems to put out 13+ volts. The gen. has seen 10 + hours with no visible effects. A gen. might be wired for 12 volts differntly than a 6 volt, but these units are so overdesigned anyway, it seem not to matter. Well, good luck.
